Rich strawberry and rhubarb aromas delicately interweave with layers of rose hips, steeped Oolong tea, and anise. It displays an herbal, almost minty sensation, that leads into tones of pie crust and pomegranate. The concentration of this vintage also brings a darker, brooding character while still providing velvety tannins and fresh acidity.

Flavors of dark plum and mountain blueberry lead into hues of tobacco, black pepper, and black olive. Aromatic nuances of coriander, basil, and violet bring a savory and floral complexity that is reaffirmed with notes of iron and smoked meat. Fine grain tannins and elevated acidity transition to an extended finish reminiscent of berry herbal tea. A wine of precision and restrained power. — Winemaker

Deep aromas of black cherry and dark chocolate are balanced by cassis bud and anise. Subtle tones of tobacco and coffee round the palate for a full and rich finish. Screwcap. Produced by François Labet (of Clos de Vougeot’s Chateau de la Tour), this versatile Mediterranean Pinot oozes personality. The vineyard is located on the east coast of Corsica’s Haute-Corse department, at 400-metres altitude above the town of Ghisonaccia.
Unlike he does for his Burgundies, François Labet fully de-stems the fruit for this wine and then ages it two-thirds in tank and one-third in French oak before bottling. This is already open for business, with spice/plum and forest floor notes and even some secondary notes starting to shine through. On top of the sweet core of fruit there’s some Mediterranean garrigue, a hint of anise and a kiss of French oak spice. The bright, clean finish reflects the wine’s rocky, high-country terroir with juicy tannins and snap of tangy acidity.
