Brilliant wine with a beautiful golden yellow robe and golden reflections. Elegant and expressive nose with aromas of white flowers evolving into smoky and truffle scents.
The aromatic is on notes of dried fruits, apricot and white truffle. It should be tasted dry with a very persistent finish.

Bresse Chicken with cream, sweetbreads with morels, truffled foie gras, Comté or old Cantal. Great fish and Crustacean (Monkfish, Crayfish, Char, Langoustine), but also with a pan-fried veal. Serving temperature : 12 °C

Here the nose is compositionally similar to that of the regular cuvee but as is usually the case it is more reserved, more complex and the wood treatment is more subtle. There is notably better concentration to the impressively rich, powerful and muscular big-bodied flavors are shaped by dense but relatively fine tannins on the wonderfully long, balanced and again youthfully austere finale. This terrific effort is really most impressive though note well that it is going to need at least 10 years of bottle age and reward 15 to 18.

(in tank awaiting bottling; this was the first vineyard harvested in 2014, with potential alcohol of 13%): Dark red with ruby highlights. Musky aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, dark chocolate and violet show an element of leathery reduction. Very suave and fine-grained; a distinctly silky Vosne-side Nuits-Saint-Georges. Finishes with building but nicely buffered tannins and lingering flavors of dark fruits and licorice.

2005 Dominique Laurent • Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru
Laurent’s 2005 Charmes Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes largely from the true Charmes, with only a small component of Mazoyeres. Striking aromas of cherry, red currant, rowan berry, licorice, lily flower, and vanilla lead to an explosively bright, sweet saturation of fruit on the palate. Subtle creaminess and caressing softness of texture add to the allure. The back end is long and soothing, less penetrating than most of Laurent’s best 2005s but living up to its name in charm. There will be a surprisingly large amount of this wine by Laurent standards, around 150 cases.
